Dr. Melody Cofield

Innovation and Leadership Coach

Dr. Cofield designed her first computer program in Fortran and Cobalt at the University of Illinois where she received her B.A. degree. Since then, she has been involved with technology in a broad range of applications
and industries including: Online Cloud-based Services, Virtual Gaming, Super Computers, Variable Digital
Printing, Website Development, Manufacturing, Banking, and Financial Planning services. Dr. Cofield
recently formed her latest enterprise, Divar.com, and released a patent pending cloud-based product designed
to help individuals, particularly women, become more productive in their business and family roles. She is
also an advisor for BioDrill work on developing a virtual game version of its bench-scale anaerobic digester
for 6-12 graders.
Dr. Cofield is a thought leader known for her creative work empowering women, youth, and communities.
Her programs are the inspiration for many women who have launched their own enterprises including her
three entrepreneurial daughters. She has developed numerous leadership programs for women and youth,
including: You Rock Academy in collaboration with University of Rochester School of Nursing and Center for
Youth; STEM Gaming Career Summer Youth Program in collaboration with BioDrill; WeRise—Women
Entrepreneurs Rising with Excellence, in collaboration with Community MicroEnterprise Center and the
National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club.
